Southwest’s Week of WOW Sale: Up to 40% Off Hawaii Flights
Before you scroll, I sometimes share links for Hawaii spots I genuinely recommend. No extra cost to you, it just supports the site. Read our affiliate disclosure for info.
Audio overview
Southwest Airlines just launched its Week of WOW sale, and if a Hawaii trip is anywhere on your list for later this year, this one is worth your attention.
The sale is live right now and runs through Thursday, June 11, 2026. Use promo code FLYWOW at checkout on Southwest.com (non-affiliate) to get up to 40% off eligible fares. Flights must depart between August 4 and December 16, 2026.
This affects anyone who has not yet locked in flights for a fall or late-summer Hawaii trip.
What This Means for Your Hawaii Trip
This is a real, time-sensitive discount. Hawaii is explicitly included in the sale, and the travel window covers some of the best and most affordable months of the year to visit the islands.
Do you need to book right now?
Yes, if you are even 60 percent sure about a Hawaii trip this fall.
The FLYWOW code expires this Thursday night, and Southwest’s no-change-fee policy means you can rebook for a different date later without paying a penalty.*
If your plans shift, you adjust. You do not lose your fare. That flexibility makes locking in a discounted ticket much lower risk than booking with most other airlines.
*Even though I have confirmed this info, you are responsible to read Southwest’s terms
Does it matter which island you’re flying to?
The sale covers Southwest’s Hawaii destinations, including Honolulu (HNL), Maui (OGG), and Kona (KOA).
Not every route will show the full 40% discount.
The actual savings depend on your specific route and dates. Search your route directly on Southwest.com, apply FLYWOW at checkout, and confirm the price before completing your booking.
Will this still matter after June 11?
Only if you have already booked and need to rebook to a different date. After the 11th, the discount is gone.
The flights will still operate, but you will be paying standard fares.
Which Routes Are Included and Why Some Are a Bigger Deal
Southwest has been expanding its Hawaii network throughout 2026.
Two new Southern California routes make this sale especially interesting for Southern California travelers. Ontario (ONT) to Honolulu launched on June 4, and Burbank (BUR) to Honolulu launches August 4, right at the start of the eligible travel window.
Both airports are significantly less congested than LAX. I have personally flown out of and into ONT, and it’s one of my favorite SoCal airports.
You get shorter security lines, easier parking, and far less terminal chaos.
If you live in the Inland Empire, the San Fernando Valley, or the San Gabriel Valley, these routes may genuinely change how you get to Hawaii.
I covered the Burbank launch in detail: Burbank to Hawaii Flights: Alaska and Southwest Add Nonstops.
Does the FLYWOW code work for all Hawaii routes?
It should apply to all Southwest Hawaii routes, but some specific flights or fare classes can be excluded during sales.
The safest approach is to search your exact route, apply the code, and confirm the discounted total before you pay.
Which Travel Dates Give You the Best Deal?
The eligible window runs August 4 through December 16. Not all dates within that window are equal. Here is a quick breakdown of how they stack up:
| Travel Period | Value Level | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Aug 4 to Labor Day (Sept 7) | Good | Still summer pricing, but fares drop after Labor Day |
| Late Sept through November | Best value | Shoulder season, excellent weather, lighter crowds |
| Early December (through Dec 16) | Good | Solid pricing before the holiday surge begins |
| Thanksgiving week | Lower value | Even sale fares trend higher during this window |
October and November are consistently the sweet spot for Hawaii travel.
Crowds are lighter, the weather is excellent across most islands, and the North Shore surf season on Oahu begins.
If budget is your priority and your dates are flexible, aim for that window.

Is This Sale Worth Booking Over Hawaiian Airlines?
For many travelers, yes. And the reasons go beyond just the discount percentage.
Southwest gives you two free checked bags, which matters a lot on a week-long Hawaii trip.
That is real savings compared to paying bag fees on most other carriers.
The no-change-fee policy is also genuinely useful. Life gets in the way. Plans change. Southwest lets you rebook without a penalty fee, and you only pay any fare difference.
Hawaiian Airlines has also been through a significant in-flight change recently.
They ended free meals on most Hawaii to mainland routes and replaced them with a paid pre-order dining system.
You can read about that shift here: Hawaiian Airlines Is Ending Free Meals on Most Hawaii Mainland Flights.
That change makes Southwest’s overall cabin experience more competitive on the basics than it used to be.
That said, if Hawaiian flies a nonstop route that Southwest does not serve, or if you are chasing miles in a specific loyalty program, Hawaiian may still be the right call.
The FLYWOW sale makes Southwest worth comparing seriously. It does not automatically make it the only answer.

Bottom Line: What Travelers Should Do Next
If a Hawaii trip is in your plans for August through December 2026, here is what to do before Thursday night:
Go to Southwest.com (non-affiliate), search your route to Hawaii, and apply code FLYWOW at checkout.
Confirm the discounted price before you complete the booking. If the savings look good, lock it in.
Southwest’s no-change-fee policy means you are not stuck if something comes up.
If you are planning to rent a car on Maui, the Big Island, or Kauai, the Week of WOW sale also includes 25% off car rental base rates.
Booking that now at the sale rate is worth doing even if you adjust your dates later.
The discount window closes Thursday, June 11, 2026. After that, it is gone.
